Wins are a team statistic. Innings and run prevention are closer to the pitcher’s own sheet.

In the notes

Innings are the first currency

A starter who can still give a team six or seven innings changes the entire bullpen math for a series. Midseason innings leaders are often more valuable than the ERA leader with half the workload.

Use Ballrecord leaders to identify the arms carrying rotations, then open player pages for hits, walks, and strikeouts.

Warning signs

Rising walk rates, shrinking strikeout rates, and sudden early exits can foreshadow a second-half fade. Do not wait for ERA to explode before noticing the ingredients.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Are pitcher wins still useful?
They are historical and cultural markers, but ERA, innings, and peripherals are better for evaluating individual performance.
How do I compare starters across teams?
Compare qualified innings and ERA on the leaders page, then adjust for team defense and park on the club pages.
